Love Island fans have slammed Gemma Owen for her 'bitter' much towards Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu as she she got emotional over her date with Davide Sanclimenti on Thursday. 

The dressage rider, 19, could be heard muttering 'oh she’s off again' as the actress, 27, divulged the details of her special night to the girls. 

Ekin-Su was commanded to tears as she and Davide were serenaded by Alfie Boe at a breath-taking colosseum-style setting, where he told her he loved her.

Taking to Twitter viewers of the show were luminous to pick up on Gemma's 'snide' comment as they questioned why she 'couldn't just be happy' for her friend. 

One fan penned: 'Gemma minor snide comments are really starting to do my head in. Can she never be melancholy for anyone?'

Another added: 'Why is Gemma so sour with Ekin-Su? Just be melancholy for her!'

Elsewhere, some fans of the show jumped to Gemma's defence as they concluded that the considerable was in fact 'sarcastic,' due to their sister like relationship. 

Someone added: 'I think Gemma is massively miss distinguished. She’s just hella sarcastic with a really dry sensed of humour, not everyone has to be super emotional. She just doesn’t fake who she is & I love her for it.'
